Bamboo: It’s Nature’s Carbon Fiber!

BOONE’s explosive launch of ultra-lightweight and durable park/freeride skis last spring has left more than a few onlookers blinking. As it turns out, Northern Cali’s only alpine ski manufacturer is about more than just those arresting topsheets (as seen on the ever popular Magic Sticks ) featuring original artwork on a small batch, limited edition ski. BOONE is the first ski company dedicated to using 100% eco-friendly bamboo cores in each of their skis.

After doing a little research, we learned that Bamboo is the fastest growing plant on earth! In fact, typical bamboo has a tensile strength of 28,000 per square inch vs. 23,000 for steel. That makes it one of the strongest materials in the world when it comes to tension structure. Bamboo can grow 18 inches per day and reaches a height of 100 feet.

However, BOONE’s creativity and differentiation doesn’t end with their commitment to the environment and skis that are lightweight, strong and fun to ride! In addition, each of their skis is a limited edition piece of artwork with only 100-500 pairs ever to be produced of any graphic.
